I had a fantastic time at BookCamp Toronto. Was honored and pleased to meet most of the organizers the night before, and to mingle with publishers, software developers, XMLers, and others. Also pleased to add quite a few book/tech nerds to my twitter feed and greader.
I’ve organized my toots and some other background info from the (un)conference in a google doc, for general consumption. Go see my notes.
I just unfollowed a bunch of people on twitter. If I unfollowed you, no hard feelings. I just could not keep track of 160 people in tiny boxes all day, and if I had not talked with you over twitter for a while, well, I haven’t talked with you over twitter. I do read blogs and tumblrs and such, and am on IM pretty much constantly, and it is possible I have talked with you there.
But, I like to think we are more complex than little boxes, and I have gotten a little overwhelmed with the amount of information I have to digest on a daily basis.
And you know what? If you go to my twitter page, it links right to this here blog, and there is a form through which you can email me. Also, if you Google me (“Devon Persing” or “viscousplatypus”) you find me, because as far as I can tell I’m the only Devon Persing with web stuff all over the place, and I am the only viscousplatypus. If you need me, you know where to find me.
Thanks to a tip from @shanakimball*, I’ve registered for BookCamp Toronto in June. It’s a free day-long unconference on digital publishing.
Fun fact: In high school I voraciously read Ploughshares and Iowa Review. Almost applied to publishing programs for college. But I got a writing degree instead.
*This is @shanakimball shout-out #2. Clearly, you should be following her on twitter. Really, you should just see who I follow and follow them.
[The facebook ad screenshot of the portly bearded fellow asking 26-year-old women to take surveys for money got lost in the server asplosion. Sorry.]
Tag and note asplosion.

postorg.org is live. All duckies welcome.
And, if you haven’t, email explodedORG [at] gmail [dot] com. Someone will get in touch with you, make you a collaborator on a Google doc spreadsheet, and you can help us rebuild our network.
I have started Twittering, gained a host of new AIM and Flickr contacts, and am helping to scheme, as well as continuing to help plan QuackerCon.
And keep an eye out for postorg.org.
This weekend holds sleep, a bit of work, yarn, possible shenanigans, pretty decent forensic crime novels, and the BBC version of Planet Earth.
Stay toasty, friends.
