Rain, rain, and goings on

The Deuce is currently experiencing leftovers from Hurricane Ike Hannah. As far as I can tell, it’s been raining constantly since this morning. This theoretically provides perfect conditions for getting work done, because leaving the house might involve drowning.

In other news, I have signed up to be a correspondent for the new Ann Arbor Chronicle, a community produced site of daily local news. Look for Twitter-style updates by me and the other correspondents to appear in the left-hand column as we document interesting happenings around town.

Hat

Flickr is not working at the moment, but I wanted to share what will probably be the last hat of the season.

Half-double rib done in a spiral, using Chilean wool. I will look forward to you in the winter, little hat.

Rain days and elephants

Weather is stupid this winter.

my (slightly wonky) elephant.

I have completed my first crocheted stuffed creature, with a pattern from Mr. Funky’s Super Crochet Wonderful, a gift from my ORG Secret Santa, enchiladaplate.

Pink.

My grandma likes pink. She’s 96. She’s usually chilly, so I’m making her a shrug for Christmas.

Yarn!

Last night I bought yarn from the Internet for the first time. I got two skeins of this lovely merino/cashmere blend from Posh Yarn:

So excited. I’m thinking a sweater vest.

Take this purse and stuff it.

When I had an interview a bit ago, several people (all women) told me that I shouldn’t take one of my handmade purses because they don’t look dressy enough.

Next time I need a “dressy” purse, I’ll have one.
